New coach? Here's an overview of how things run during the season
Our club is run by the hundreds of parents who volunteer including coach or assistant coach. CCYS appreciates the dedication it takes from our coaches to run our program.
To get started, every coach each season needs to register with AdminSports as a coach or assitant. New coaches will need to also register for a CORI background check. All coaches are required to received ongoing coach training. Once these steps are completed, you are ready to coach. CCYS communicates primarily with coaches via the email. They are informed about seasonal meetings, of their team's roster and schedule and of club business.
The timeline of the CCYS seasons is as follows:
- Rosters and schedules are generally released to coaches and assistants about three weeks prior to the season opening.
- Coach meeting takes place about two weeks prior to the season opening. At the coach meeting, coaches hear from their program's director about seasonal information and pickup needed equipment along with player-ordered shirts.
- Season length is anywhere from 7-10 weeks and games are played during holiday weekends.
- Practices are set up by coaches about two weeks priro to the season opening.
- Licensing - coaches are asked to regularly complete coach licensing to stay on top of their coaching skills. The introductory G license is required to coach with CCYS. See Coach News for more details about these courses.
- Ongoing - coaches are kept abreast of important club information including field closings both by direct email for affected divisions and by posting updates to our website daily.
