New coach? Here's an overview of how things run during the season
Our club is run by the hundreds of parents who volunteer, particularly to coach. CCYS prides themselves in supporting these many volunteers by communicating frequently about pre-season or seasonal events and by training them through coach licensing and sometimes additional, coach and player clinics.
To start the seasonal process, coaches are asked to register with CCYS which is usually done during player registration. We also require all our new coaches to register for a CORI background check with our parent ogrnization, Mass Youth Soccer and to receive coach licensing. Coach may also participate in the team formation process that brings together CCYS staff and volunteers to form teams. Team formation is conducted separately and at slightly different times for our Travel and In-Town programs but the end result is the same, teams are establised, coaches are recruited and rosters and schedules are developed. Just before season opening rosters and schedules are released to coaches who then contact their teams and set up practices. Also before the season opens, we conduct coach meetings for both our In-Town and Travel programs. These meetings are meant as an orientation to the season by reviewing club procedures, conveying club updates and to help familiarize new coaches with how things are done. Equipment is distributed as well. Once fields are open, practices may begin.
