Rules

BAYS games: In addition to rules and guidlines stated by the Massachusetts State Referee Committee, BAYS has included a Current Rule Book under Procedures and Policies on their website. Please fill out a BAYS online game report after your game (you must login to your BAYS account and accept the referee assignment in order to fill out the game report.) Here are some additional age specific notes:

U9/10 30 minute halves 6 players maximum /5 players to start the game/4 players to continue after ejections or injuries
no offside rule, no goal kicks or goal keeper punts over the center line
U11/12 30 minute halves 8 players maximum / 6 to start/ 5 to continue play
U14 35 minute halves 11 players maximum / 8 to start/ 7 to continue play
U16 40 minute halves 11 players maximum / 8 to start/ 7 to continue play
U18 45 minute halves 11 players maximum / 7 to start/ 7 to continue play
Age specific rules for IN-TOWN games: Please email a game report to the CCYS Referee Coordinator after the game.
2nd Grade 5 v 5 20 minute halves,
no goal-keeper, no headers or throw-ins, no goal kicks or goal keeper punts over center line
3rd/4th Grade 6 v 6 24 minute halves,
no goal kicks or goal keeper punts over center line
5th/6th Grade 8 v 8 30 minute halves,
enforce off-side rules!
If a yellow card is issued during a game, or if there is an injury please email details of the incident to the CCYS Referee Coordinator as soon as possible after the game. If you give out a red card during a game or there is a serious injury please CALL the Referee Coordinator as soon as possible after the game.
